Governor John Lynch Receives Walter R. Peterson Award for Education and Public Service
The first annual Walter R. Peterson Education and Public Service Award was presented to Governor John Lynch at a dinner and reception on October 28th at the Wentworth by the Sea Hotel in New Castle, NH. Over 300 guests from across the state attended the event hosted by Great Bay Community College. Among the attendees were Gubernatorial candidates Maggie Hassan and Ovide Lamontagne, members of the Peterson family as well as individuals from numerous seacoast-area and NH businesses. The award, which will now be presented annually by each of the Community College System of New Hampshire Colleges, recognizes an individual whose contribution to higher education best exemplifies former Governor Walter Peterson's values of public service and dedication to higher education. In addition to commentary from students and alumni of Great Bay, speakers also included CCSNH Chairman Paul Holloway, Chancellor Ross Gittell as well as Joseph Morone, President and CEO of Albany International Corp. in Rochester. Proceeds raised from the event this year will support scholarship assistance for Great Bay Community College students.
