Learning Styles
"A learning style is a preferred way of thinking,
processing, and understanding information."
Eric Jensen in Super Teaching, 1995
An abundance of learning style inventories exist both in print and online. Instructors, therefore, have access to a variety of options; the challenge is in selecting the one that best meets the objective of the course, lesson, or experience. Not all learning styles are the same; they neither define nor measure learning styles in exactly the same way. Selection should be based on the following criteria:
- Target population
- Time available for assessment
- Information desired
- Context
- Application of results
