The following guidelines will be in effect to ensure a safe event for all students, guests, faculty, and staff. Please note that these guidelines are subject to change and potential changes will be communicated in a timely manner to all graduates.

  • Participation and attendance in the Graduation ceremony is voluntary and is not required by Great Bay Community College.
  • All students and guests must self-screen the morning of the Graduation ceremony for the following:
    • Fever above 100.4 degrees, respiratory symptoms including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath.
    • Severe fatigue, new muscle aches, or chills
    • New gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • All students and guests should refrain from attending Graduation if student or guest has come into contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 10 days prior to Graduation or has traveled internationally or on a cruise ship 10 days prior to Graduation.
  • Fully vaccinated students or guests who come into contact with a confirmed positive COVID case within 10 days of May14 & 15 may participate in the graduation ceremonies, unless the student or guest is experiencing new or unexplained symptoms.
  • Masks must be worn at all times by students, guests, faculty, and staff while on campus.
  • Chairs will be thoroughly sanitized between ceremonies.

Student Arrival & Departure

  • Students are to arrive no earlier than 45 minutes and no later than 30 minutes prior to the start time of their ceremony.
  • Students are to enter the building via the entrance to the gym.
  • Please leave all personal belongings in vehicles as students will not be re-admitted into the gym after the ceremony.
  • Students are to remain in the gym until being lined up for the procession.
  • Portable restrooms will be available for use as building access outside of the gym will be prohibited.
  • Students are to remain in their assigned, socially distant seats while in the gym.
  • Students will be seated 6 feet apart in a designated student section under the tent.
  • Students will not shake hands with Interim President Addy when accepting diploma.
  • Tossing graduation caps after the ceremony will not be permitted.
  • Students are asked not to congregate and to leave campus promptly after the Graduation ceremony.

Guest Arrival & Departure

  • Guests are not to enter the tent area no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the start time of the ceremony.
    • Guests are asked to wait in their cars if they arrive more than 30 minutes prior to the start time of the ceremony.
  • Handicapped parking will be available near the tent.
  • Extra parking is permitted/will be available in the Bottom Line Technologies office lot, 325 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, across the street from Great Bay.
  • Seats for guests will be arranged in groups of four/4 and will be distanced 6 feet from the closest group of seats.
    • Guests are not permitted to move/rearrange the groups of chairs.
    • Groups of four/4 should include members of the same household, or guests of each graduate.
    • Children under the age of 3 may sit on a lap; however, walking/running around the tent is prohibited.
  • Guests are asked not to leave their seats to take photographs of their graduate.
    • Professional photos will be taken of each graduate while on stage and when he/she walks off the stage to a designated photo area. Graduates may remove their masks for this photo only (and promptly put the mask back on before walking back to their seats).
    • Hockmeyer Studios will email a complimentary digital download of that photo (without a mask) to graduates as a gift from GBCC.
    • Photographs of graduates while they are on stage will be available for purchase from Hockmeyer Studios. Please refer to the email from Hockmeyer Studios.
  • Portable restrooms will be available for use as entrance into the building will be prohibited.
  • Guests are asked not to congregate and to leave campus promptly after the Graduation ceremony.
