This course will provide students with an overview of effective instructional designs, methods, strategies, assessments, and assistive techniques to meet the needs of students with disabilities. An emphasis on inclusion and working with students in the general education classroom will be provided. It is essential that educators develop a repertoire of teaching strategies to value the strengths and meet the diverse needs of students in today’s classrooms. The practice of inclusion involves accommodating the curriculum to meet the individual needs of all students in the environment most conducive to learning. This course requires 15 hours of observations in a special education or general education classroom setting.
