We are here to help you succeed.
At GBCC, completing that degree or certificate you have already started may be closer than you think. For students transferring credits to GBCC, we recognize that you are not starting college from the beginning. Our team of advisors are committed to showing you how the credits earned from a prior college experience and your hard work, can be applied directly to your GBCC degree or certificate, saving you both time and money.
Determining if Credits Transfer
- College credits that fit into your intended program with a grade of C or better from an accredited U.S. college or university are accepted.
- You can determine if credits are accepted from another institution by using our Transfer Equivalency System.
Step by Step Credit Evaluation Process
- To see how exactly your prior coursework aligns with a GBCC degree, send a transcript from your prior college or university showing credits earned, along with the program that you are interested in to [email protected].
- Our advisors will conduct a prospective student credit transfer evaluation.
- Accepted GBCC students who have sent their official college transcripts in will have a transfer credit evaluation completed before their initial student advising appointment by a GBCC Academic Advisor.
Credit for Prior Experience
- Prior Learning Assessment provides students with the opportunity to get credit for acquired college-level learning, industrial credentials or experience.
- This learning may include industry certifications, work experience, employer training programs, independent study, no-credit courses, volunteer or community service, or non-college courses or seminars.
- A student must be enrolled at GBCC to be eligible for Credit for Prior Learning.
- You can determine who prior professional experience will transfer by using our Transfer Equivalency System.
Transfer Credits from GBCC to a Bachelor Degree Program
- After completion of a program, GBCC students in designated majors can transfer to a four-year college or university to complete a bachelor’s degree. Get more information and see list of transfer pathways.
Most credits do not expire. That’s true. Some major courses like IT might expire based on the fast pace of technological update.
