This course is designed to provide the student with an overview of counseling psychology as a
profession. Information is provided about the basic educational, historical, philosophical and
psychological foundations of counseling as well as specific traits and skills of professional counselors.
Several broad theoretical perspectives will be studied and applied in role-play situations. Prerequisite:
ENGL110G/111G (may be co-requisite) or placement into ENGL110G/111G and PSYC110G
