This course will provide students with an overview of education in the United States and an overview of the many dimensions of the teaching profession. There are many factors that influence the teaching profession, from the students in the classroom to the political climate. This course will engage students in the examination of these influences and their effects on education in the K-12 setting. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the art of teaching. This course requires 25 hours of observation in a classroom setting. *Students will be required to complete a total of 50 hours of field observation prior to graduation. Fall/Summer semesters
