The exhibition features large-scale drawings and prints by Sasja Lucas.

PORTSMOUTH – Great Bay Community College is proud to present “In Flux” a new exhibit by Sasja Lucas, an accomplished Boston area artist whose mediums include painting, drawing, printmaking, murals, set design and multimedia performance.

The exhibition will be featured from October 14 through December 4, 2021 in the Gateway Gallery at Great Bay Community College, 320 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH.

Ms. Lucas’ work has been exhibited throughout New England and across the country since 1979. Many of these exhibitions have resulted in awards, such as the Directors Choice Award at the Galleries at Kimball Jenkins Estate in Concord, NH.  She also enjoys the role of curator for the Menino Arts Center in Hyde Park, Massachusetts. Her work is featured in many private, corporate and university collections including the Federal Reserve Bank of Bost, Harvard University, Sala Communications in Amsterdam and The Dimock Gallery in Washington, DC. Ms. Lucas is a member of the Monotype Guild of New England, a founding member of the Cornwall Gallery and the Jamaica Plain Arts Association. She has taught art at a number of institutions.

Born in Sungei-Gerong on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia, she earned a BFA from State University at Binghamton. Sasja Lucas lived in Holland, Canada, upstate New York before settling in Boston in 1980. About her work, Ms. Lucas says, ”My work is evidence of an act of discovery which occurs through the process of creating. The process itself is the driving force, as opposed to a method that is informed by a predetermined result.”

The Gateway Gallery is located inside the atrium entrance of Great Bay Community College at 320 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH 03801 and features the work of local New England artists. For info and questions on the exhibit, Contact Annette Cohen at [email protected] 603-427-7665.
