Thank you for your interest in the Great Bay Community College Student Life office! Great Bay is special because of the opportunities afforded to our students and the responsibilities required of them. As a student at Great Bay, you will be unique in terms of your goals, your time demands, and your required work ethic. We offer you many opportunities to enhance the quality of your education by encouraging and providing opportunities for you to get involved and get connected. The Student Life staff understands the importance of a well rounded educational experience, and we are committed to assisting you in reaching your academic and personal potential.

The goal of the Student Life office is to support the mission of Great Bay Community College by providing a comprehensive experience that focuses on the whole student. The Student Life office encourages learning beyond the classroom by working in active partnership with student, faculty, and staff colleagues to foster student opportunities which compliment academic pursuits. The Student Life office strives to promote student growth and development for learning, involvement, leadership, and community building through diverse co-curricular cultural, social, educational, athletic, and recreational activities. Participating in intercollegiate athletics presents challenges that teach sportsmanship, leadership and time management, it gives each individual the opportunity to share in personal and team success and it provides opportunities for collegiate-athletes to develop a sense of unity while building a community for all students, alumni, faculty/staff and friends of the College.

The athletic program at Great Bay Community College is committed to enriching the intellectual and physical capabilities of its student-athletes, while developing and building a respected, competitive national- level program.

In the event that a student seeks eligibility to participate on an intercollegiate athletic team, conference rules, if more stringent, will take precedence over Institute regulations.

The Student Government Association represents the student body, upholds student rights, and provides students with the opportunity for training and experience in democratic government. The Student Government Association is concerned with the development, welfare and governance of all students, student organizations, and student groups at Great Bay Community College. The Student Government Association encourages students to participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and services, which directly impact the student body

Student Leadership Program
High Adventures Ropes Course

In a world that is changing rapidly, there is a need for leaders who possess a comprehensive understanding of the challenges we face in the 21st century. Committed and well-prepared leaders are essential to our ability to tackle these challenges. The Great Bay Community College Leadership Program serves as a leading resource in educating, training and motivating tomorrow's leaders to address our most critical problems and shape a better world. The Student Leadership Program at Great Bay Community College has three primary objectives:

  1. To provide students with an opportunity to develop soft skills that are needed to be successful in their lives;
  2. To provide students with experiential learning opportunities that will allow them to utilize the skills they have learned in the leadership program and the classroom;
  3. To get students connected to Great Bay Community College faculty, staff and fellow students.

As a member of the program you will:

  • Participate in leadership workshops including sessions on goal setting, conflict, leadership styles, and time management.
  • Challenge yourself physically and stretch your leadership muscles in the great outdoors at the High Adventures Ropes Course.
  • Network with current student leaders, faculty and staff throughout the semester by participating in workshops, lunches, and campus activities
  • Earn a Leadership Certificate of Completion!

How It Works

  1. Student picks up application in Student Life.
  2. Student decides if they want to attend the overnight retreat in the fall or the day retreat in the spring.
  3. Student drops off completed application to Student Life.
  4. Student must complete the following by April 15
    • Attend Retreat
    • Complete 2 Experiential Learning activities
    • Attend 5 Student Engagement activities
    • Attend 5 Leadership workshops

At Great Bay Community College, students have the opportunity to experience success in the classroom and take advantage of a wide range of activities to further enhance life skills. Our student clubs and organizations offer the chance to be a part of a team, gain a head start on a career, build leadership skills and get involved in community service.
